My Porsche Story
1985
At age thirteen.
I read the books Dune and Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Orthodontics were firmly in place.
I was somewhat awkwardly tall.
Permanent wave was a real thing.
My Mom tried valiantly to make me fashionable, matching even.
My parents had been divorced since I was about 2 and visiting my Dad during the Summer was part of life. This year I flew to New Mexico to meet up with my Pops and his Wife to spend time with their grand kids and her kids.
Once the hotel was figured out, my Dad took me with him to the Liquor store to buy up the supplies he and his wife needed. This was all foreign to me because my Mom did not drink and my stepdad went to bars, so I did not see alcohol in my home. As I digress, I had to remain in the car while he went inside and was there long enough to see and hear a fantastic car drive up and park right next to me! I had never in my life seen a car like this, the shape took me by surprise and I got out and had a chat with the driver. I gushed and gushed over his car and asked all the questions my 13 year old brain could think of. I remember making the guy blush, but I was only interested in the car. It was a beautiful, silver Porsche 911 with all the curves. I'm still not certain of the year but I am sure someone reading this knows all about it.
To the owner, if you still have this car and ever want to sell it, can we talk?
1986
Soon after I bought a Porsche poster, the only one I could find in the area I lived. Guards Red, Flachbau 911 turbo. An overnight weekend with girls in my class and a little movie titled "Top Gun" was about to change everything. At the time I had no idea I had seen a great 356 Porsche, I was thinking about buzzing the tower.
1989-1991
I drove (no pun intended) a high school classmate bonkers by arguing to no end that Porsche's had whale tails, NOT spoilers. He could not convince me that they were literally the same thing. Because to me they most certainly were not. My "next" Porsche was a guards red 911 soft fabric stuffie with whale tail and re-moveable tires. If only I still had that one...
1991-1995
Post high school my head was in the clouds. The Air Force Academy did not happen, but a private pilot's license from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University did - along with incredible debt after only one year. I owe the freedom from that debt to my Mother.

Heading back to school to become an automotive mechanic with the dream of Porsche ownership being a reality, (hoping for a nice silver 911 like the one in the photo, or possibly a wide body type) or at least work for Porsche or at a garage that specializes in German cars.
Volunteered at Luftgekült 10.
*it is obvious that I am not a stats person and that I do not have all the body types, engine specs and bhp data for any of these models. I fell in love with Porsche for the sculptural beauty of the car first. I am just beginning to learn the engineering and motorsports components. Thank you for your patience, this is after all my story.
